Day 13: From Waterville to Caherdaniel Date Aug 26, 2022 (Friday) Today's Distance: 10 miles / 16 km Route and Stats Route Video Total Ireland: 95 miles. Total All Caminos: 1715 miles Lodging: Travellers Rest Hostel @ $ 50 Total Lodging: $ 845 Total Buses / Trains: $ 245 Food: $ 20 Total Food: $ 284 Meaningful Moment Didn't take any pictures today. Saw lots of beautiful ocean sights, had lots of beautiful opportunities between the mountains and on the mountains. Colorful towns. Just didn't feel like I needed another picture of all that. A clothes line is one of the simple things in life. But after my clothes getting soaked yesterday, the thought of my clothes drying on the line in the sun and the wind back at the hostel while I'm at the pub having a Guinness is strangely calming . Day 12: From Portmagee to Waterville Date Aug 25, 2022 (Thursday) Today's Distance: 18 miles / 28 km Route and Stats Route Video Total Ireland: 85 miles. Total All Caminos: 1705 miles Lodging: Klondike House B&B @ $ 70 Total Lodging: $ 795 Total Buses / Trains: $ 245 Food: $ 8 Total Food: $ 264 Meaningful Moment I don't know if I call it a meaningful moment, but I was definitely most challenged at the end of the   hike. The day started with great weather so I stopped for about an hour at a roadside view of the Kerry Cliffs. You can see the videos below. From there it was probably 14 mi of hiking on one lane roads, but pretty much routine.  About 1:00 p.m. the skies turned gray and by 3:00 it was pretty much a constant rain with a constant cold blowing wind. Day 11: From Caherciveen to Portmagee Date Aug 24, 2022 (Wednesday) Today's Distance: 9 miles / 15 km Route and Stats Route Video Total Ireland: 67 miles. Total All Caminos: 1687 miles Lodging: Sunset B&B @ $ 90 Total Lodging: $ 725 Total Buses / Trains: $ 245 Food: $ 40 Total Food: $ 256 Meaningful Moment Skellig Islands Sea Cruise It was nice being on the ocean in the swells and troughs. According to the captain, these were six to nine foot waves. Lots of sea salt sprayed in the face. And of course, the Skellig islands were beautiful. Wish I could have done the landing excursion cruise. But I couldn't make the timing work what with hiking. Random Thought of the Day Lots to talk about today. Have repeatedly tried to get a hold of the Skellig Lodge and Hostel in Balliskellig. They don't answer the phone or answer emails. They are perfectly situated for my next stop. As we delved deeper and deeper into language and linguistics and grammar and structure, I still have to laugh at how boring our conversation would have seemed to absolutely anybody else there in the Little Teater coffee shop.
